Why are area rugs taken out to be cleaned?
For the absolute best results, rugs need a day at the spa. They need to go through all of the proper steps for total soil and odor removal by skilled technicians who understand the science of area rug care, stain removal, odor neutralizing, and customer service. As your rugs move through our rug care studio, multiple sets of eyes look them over to be sure that they are receiving the best care.
We need ample time, the right equipment, the best and safest cleaning solutions, and the ability to change direction if we don’t like what the rug is telling us. In addition, we must have the capability of flushing copious amounts of water through a rug to be able to eliminate most pet urine stains completely. Our centrifuge does much of the heavy lifting for us. The drying space at Rockford Rug Cleaners is temperature and humidity controlled so that your rugs dry quickly.
If an area rug cleaner volunteers to “clean” your rugs in your home, be warned – this type of surface cleaning is not a deep, safe, thorough cleaning. It is treated from the top-down with the kinds of equipment and chemistry used for carpet cleaning, by technicians trained to clean wall-to-wall carpet.
The dyes and fibers associated with most area rugs cannot withstand the kind of harsh pH levels and heat used with this type of surface cleaning. You should expect to see one or more of the following as the rugs are slowly drying in your home:
- Browning or yellowing
- Texture change
- Dye bleed
- Premature fading
- Damp areas
- Mildew odor or spots
- Soiled fringes
- Lingering pet urine stains and odors
Rockford Rug Cleaners strongly recommends against at-home area rug cleaning. If you have any questions or would like to know more about our process, please give us a call or come by and take a tour of our studio! We’re proud to tell you about what we do here!
