Where is the best place to keep an area rug while not in use?

The best place to store a rug is somewhere cool and dry. Ideally, it’s best if your rug is up off of the floor and away from a wall. Keeping it away from the wall and floor ensures it won’t pick up any condensation and begin to mildew.

Roll your textiles instead of folding them to keep foundation yarns from becoming stressed, and do not pile other objects on top of your rugs in storage. If it is absolutely necessary to fold your rugs, keep this rule in mind – creases take twice as long to walk out as they took to create.

Only store rugs that are clean, dry, properly wrapped, and treated preventatively with a moth repellant to keep nesting critters and moths away.

We require that your rugs be returned to you within 30 days of notification of completion. You may either pick them up from our office or call us to schedule delivery. Rugs left longer than 30 days from notification of completion will be considered abandoned and are subject to disposal or donation unless storage arrangements have been made with us in advance.
