Do stain protectors really work?
There are several different types of stain protectors out there and they definitely do NOT all work the same. Protectors that you can purchase over the counter and apply at home are pretty generic in their formulation and are actually less effective than one would hope. The high-quality protectors are reserved for professional application by a skilled technician.
For best results, have stain protector professionally applied to a brand new or newly cleaned textile. It’s like insurance for your rugs – repelling stains for a period of time – giving you a chance to blot them away before they can set in.
Please understand that stain protectors do not make your rugs bulletproof. If a spill is allowed to stay too long and seeps in past the protector, stains will happen. The protector only gives you a window of time to work on a spill.
Re-application is necessary after professional cleaning.
